Brandon Graves
Brandon Graves (born June 22, 2005) was an investment banker based in New York City and the older brother of Sabrina Graves. He grew up in McLean, Virginia, with Sabrina and their parents, David Graves and Margo Graves.
Early Life and Education
Brandon grew up in McLean within the Graves family. He attended a well-regarded suburban public high school and later a university in the Northeast, where he studied economics alongside a second business-related major. His academic record was strong without drawing much family concern. He moved easily among school teams, parties, and friend groups, building connections that later helped his finance career. Similar settings cost Sabrina considerably more effort.
Career
Brandon worked in investment banking in New York City and lived in a Manhattan apartment. His work paid well but demanded long hours; he rarely enjoyed explaining its particulars to relatives who did not need them. He flew home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Family and Core Relationships
David Graves and Margo Graves
David and Margo were Brandon’s parents. Brandon returned to see them more often than he and Sabrina arranged visits with each other outside family gatherings. David loved both of his children but had a closer adult relationship with Sabrina than with Brandon.
Sabrina Graves
Brandon was Sabrina’s older brother. He left for college when she was thirteen, and their contact narrowed with distance. They were not close or estranged: they generally contacted each other on birthdays and holidays and saw each other at family gatherings a few times a year. He was fond of her, but they were not part of each other’s daily lives. Brandon never realized that Sabrina measured her own social effort against the ease he appeared to have at school and with friends.
Brandon did not know about Sabrina’s autism diagnosis because she had not told him. She doubted that he would know what to do with the information and did not want to disclose it to him.
